Built mockup — not a screenshot
The problem
The idea needed to be playable before it could be judged. A design document cannot answer whether autonomous tiles and daily routines are actually interesting to watch.
The approach
Build the smallest thing that proves the loop. A single bootstrap component constructs the entire scene at runtime, so the prototype runs from an empty scene and there is no hand-wired editor state to maintain.
The architecture
- A single bootstrap component builds clock, grid, population, camera rig and HUD at runtime
- World grid with tile state and tile view kept separate
- Autonomous tile progression — grassland into farm and mine tiers over in-game days
- Citizen agents with day and night routines for workers, adults and children
- RTS-style camera controller with pan, zoom and rotate
Result
Built as a prototype: the scene assembles itself from one component, so the simulation can be iterated on without maintaining editor scene state.
