How StarzVmail works

Every arrow below is something the software actually does today, on two live servers and 26 mailboxes.

Where mail starts

Your email provider

Crazydomains, Gmail, Microsoft 365 or your own mail server. This stays exactly as it is. Staff keep their same address.

Every few minutes: we ask for anything new and copy it down.

The mirror

The StarzVmail server

A second copy of every message and attachment, scrambled on the disk. It can sit on a machine in your own office, or on ours.

Your staff open mail from here, or from the provider — both work.

Outlook, phones, Mac Mail

Set up once, then it behaves like any normal mailbox.

The webmail page

Any browser, no setup. Read, search, download.

Read and unread marks travel back up, so nothing looks unread twice.

Overnight

The second copy, and the nightly check

The mirror is copied again to another machine. Every night we read real files back out of that copy and compare them, and the result shows on your dashboard the next morning.

What it does not do.

It never deletes anything at your provider. That switch exists in the software and stays off.
It is not a promise that every message ever sent is there forever. It is a working second copy, checked every night.
It is not a spam filter or a virus scanner.
